Post Op : 2021 TX Spring Gathering

Our 2021 TX Spring Gathering was an unforgettable experience.

We started in Fort Worth on Thursday with a great steak dinner at Toro Toro and then checked out Billy Bob’s. We quickly accessed that we are waaaaaay toooooo old for “college night”.

The next morning we traveled south to OHC TX HQ. We conducted business and voted:

  • YES to inducting Kyle Nelson and Justin Lolmaugh into the Clan. Nelson is a member of the CO Tribe and Lolmaugh is a member of the TX Tribe.

  • YES to Oscar Garza and Kurt Wohldmann as Prospects for Clan membership. Oscar is a TX Tribe Prospect and Wohldmann is an AZ Tribe Prospect.

  • YES to revising our by laws to include a “Members In Good Standing” section. Slaughter will draft for final Clan approval.

  • NO to splitting Member Induction authority / responsibility down into Tribe level.

  • YES to extending our Prospecting Period from 6 months to “no less than one year”.

  • YES to amending our “American Motorcycle” requirement to include other model.

We concluded our business, had a few beers and then things got crazy. In summary, the arena became an OHC pack hut. We’ll leave the details to tell in person, but it was one of the most primal things (I have) ever witnessed. As the team worked together, Envelop & Engage became the tactic. When it was all over, 5 hogs were down:

  • A Carter w/ Knife & Spear Assist

  • D Holm w/ Knife & Battle Axe

  • J Denevan w/ Long Spear

  • D Arnold w/ Knife & Spear Assist

  • S Cole (guest) w/ Knife & Spear Assist

After the arena, we cooked over the campfire and hung out at the teepee. By the end of the night we had all learned more about ourselves and our unit, as we pushed through preconceived limits together and grew stronger as a Clan.

On Saturday we were hosted by Lakeside Bar & Live Music. We had a great time and a lot of pickle shots. Then we went back to TX HQ to watch the UFC 260 Heavyweight Championship main card. (Sugar Show stole the stage.) We actually took it relatively easy that evening and everyone hit the rack soon after the fights ended.

Sunday morning was recovery focused as we packed up and got ready to roll north. We got everyone to the airport on time and everyone got home safely.

Less a few bumps, burses and scrapes, the weekend was a great success. For those that made it out, thank you from the OHC TX Tribe. For those that couldn’t, you were missed and we look forward to seeing you at the NE Summer Gathering in June.

    Interesting / Unusual Facts:

  • OHC TX Tribe “flipped” a beater car to raise most of the money used to pay for lodging, food and beverages for the event.

  • We used J Lolmaugh’s RV for group transport. That was an awesome little addition to the experience!

    • B Slaughter owes J Lolmaugh for the RV scratches

  • Lakeside covered our +$450 bar tab

  • Special Guests were T Cole and S Cole
